The World of Captain Finn
In a world filled with screens and distractions, finding meaningful and engaging stories for children can be a challenge. Enter Captain Finn, a unique and inspiring character designed to spark imagination, creativity, and confidence in young readers.
Captain Finn is more than just a story—he is a journey. Through adventure, storytelling, and connection, children are encouraged to believe in themselves and explore the world around them.
Who is Captain Finn?
Captain Finn is not just any ordinary character—he is a brave young sailor with a heart full of curiosity and a spirit of adventure. His stories take children on thrilling journeys across the seas, where they encounter new lands, solve mysteries, and discover important life lessons.
He represents courage, kindness, and the power of imagination, making him a relatable and inspiring role model for young readers.
The Creation of Captain Finn
Captain Finn was created with a purpose—to bring meaningful and inclusive storytelling to children. As a Deaf author, I wanted to create a character that connects with kids through visual storytelling, imagination, and real-life inspiration.
The goal is simple: to help children grow, dream, and feel confident in who they are. Captain Finn encourages kids to explore their ideas, embrace challenges, and believe in their own journey.
The Captain Finn Book Series
I have written five books in the Captain Finn series. The first book, The Adventures of Captain Finn, will be released soon.
The remaining four books—Captain Finn and the Treasure of Teamwork, Captain Finn and Whispering Isle, Captain Finn and the Treasure Thrives, and Captain Finn: A Treasure Beyond the Stars—are currently to be announced (TBA).
Each story builds on adventure, imagination, and meaningful lessons that children can carry with them in their everyday lives.
Meet the Crew
Captain Finn sails with a diverse and inspiring crew:
Fable Finch – A natural leader who inspires others with creativity and confidence (inspired by European heritage)
Patchy Kai – A thoughtful boy with strong vision and a gift for seeing possibilities others might miss (inspired by Asian heritage)
Peg-Leg Penny – A resilient and strong girl who faces every challenge with determination (inspired by Pacific Island cultures)
Hookster Hank – A creative boy with a gift for vision and artistic expression (inspired by African American heritage)
Chirpy Jake – A caring and lively boy who has a special love and connection with animals (inspired by Mexican heritage)
And of course, their fun and energetic parrot, Squawky, who brings life and excitement to every adventure!
The Adventures of Captain Finn
Captain Finn’s adventures are filled with excitement and discovery. Each story takes readers to new places—from enchanted islands to bustling ports—where challenges, teamwork, and creativity come together.
Whether searching for treasure, solving mysteries, or racing against time, every journey is designed to keep children engaged while learning along the way.
